Founded in February 1997 by Seymour Norman, a former Exeter Cathedral chorister, the Reading Minster Mid-Week Choir continues to sing on alternate Wednesdays. Most services are a Cathedral-style Choral Evensong at 6.15 p.m., but there are occasional special services with appropriate and varied music, thus providing a 'Shop Window' of our church's choral repertoire. The Mid-Week Choir supports them all on a purely voluntary basis.
Everyone is welcome to attend. There is no charge but a retiring collection is taken. A correspondent writing to the Oxford Diocesan Branch Quarterly Bulletin of the Prayer Book Society described these services as "a wonderful haven of prayer, peace and music in the rush hour". We hope you will help to make the work of the Choir better known by inviting your friends to come with you to these Cathedral-style Services which provide additional income for the Minster.
There is room for a few more members and the Director would be pleased to speak to anyone who may be interested in joining the Choir. Please telephone him on Reading (0118) 942 4222 or e-mail us at rmmwc@admin..
If you have sets of music suitable for this type of choir we should also be pleased to hear from you.
Whether you are a singer or someone who wishes to listen to inspirational music and participate in prayer, please join us. You'll find details of the next service and our full music programmes at the following links:
